Endangered Species in Japan
- White crane with a black neck with a red spot on its head. Only about 1000 of these cranes roam in the wild in Japan today. They are incredibly threatened by the loss of their habitat because of human development. River channelization, road building, and deforestation are destroying many historic breeding wetlands. They don't fly fast so they often have deadly collisions with utility lines. There are only a thousand of these cranes left and we need to help conserve them.
